Redefining the Roaring 20’s

Since 2020 there have been comparisons of the current decade to the 1920s, most commonly referred to as the “Roaring twenties.” The 1920s is known as a time of change, so are the 2020’s. A time of the unknown; Covid-19, zoom, new independence, and adaptation.

Life and beauty in the 2020s are new with old influences. Life is hybrid, half online and half in person. Beauty is mixed with more options to buy online and in-store and expanding distribution plans by beauty brands to fit our new way of life.

However, society seems less social than in the 1920s. Life in the new twenties is a little more lonely. The truth about social media is that we honestly may be dressed up, with makeup perfectly done to post an Instagram story with nowhere to go. But that is perfectly okay if that is true for you.

Life is in color. It is bright. It is colorful. But sometimes, it can seem too bold and a little too much. Beauty is in color, with bold hues being the newest trends for 2022—bold lips with bright shiny eyeshadow, a replica of all the color and beauty in real life. In the 2020s, beauty is about mixing colors and hues, pink and red? Yes, please. Don’t be afraid of colors and mixing and matching bold and subdued hues.

The new roaring ’20s is diverse. It may not be perfect but a time of growth and education, both in life and beauty. Beauty is becoming more open and welcoming, with younger generations pushing to ensure that we don’t stop where we are and keep moving.

Entering 2022, remember that beauty is what you want it to be. It’s bold. It’s new. It’s old. It’s fresh. Redefine what the roaring twenties means to you.
