From Within the Locket

With the rise of the “underwear as outerwear” trend, women are reclaiming control of their bodies and making the ultimate statement on who they are. Bras, corsets, and sheer garments are seeing a new popularity not only underneath one’s clothes, but as the clothes themselves.

Historically, underwear has been seen as a taboo subject, as it is hidden under layers upon layers of clothing. But what if one of these historical women were transported into modern times where she didn’t have to hide? What used to be seen as the most intimate and private part of a woman’s day becomes her most powerful.

We explore the collision of the Victorian age and their undergarments with the modern trend of wearing underwear as outerwear. With the breaking of this cultural norm comes a new type of woman. One who is empowered to be unique. A rebel. We are no longer confined by corsets and crinolines, but liberated by them. Free to break from within the outdated locket and discover that the only thing a woman truly needs to be is her authentic self.
