Tourist Trap

When classes end and the spring break sun rises, college kids strip to their speedos and take off to the nearest beach. Clad in nautical stripes, bedazzled hats, and airbrushed tanks, they stuff their duffles full of skimpy skirts and bikinis, ready for long days and late nights full of trouble.

Sun dazed and hypnotized by the bliss of spring break, they are cuffed to their floaties as school creeps up. After hours at the beach, boys oiled up to tan leave for a treat. Ice cream melts down their arms, cooling their sunburnt skin.

Sorority sisters chill at a motel after a week-long bender. Popsicles in hand and pool boys by their side, the girls start to wonder if this temporary getaway could become their forever home.

As vacation season winds down, delusional, self-proclaimed townies roam the now-empty streets of surf shops and fishy, sit-down restaurants, desperate to keep the fun going.

These spring breakers’ hunger for adventure has overstayed its welcome, and they’ve found themselves falling into a terminal tourist trap.
