She’s So Calculated!

Working twice as hard for her efforts to be noticed.

Insecure that what she’s doing isn’t enough; criticized when she works harder.

Pushed to the limit, there’s no way to succeed except through “manipulation.”

She’s “calculated”

Personal gain on her mind.

He’s strategic.

Respected intentions to be in charge.

Premeditated, preconceived.

Contrasting vocabulary used when describing men and women inevitably paints them in different lights. The “unbiased” view that those in control, especially in the workplace, claim to have is tainted by presumptions and societal standards. These are not just words. When used to describe women, they have real impacts on success and advancements professionally.

What makes her actions more deceitful than his?

Why is she taken less seriously?

There’s a perception that bleeds into the workplace.

When will this ‘invisible’ war for appreciation end?

They do the same but,

He’s strategic.

She’s calculated. She’s calculated.

She’s So Calculated!
