Luxurious silk, ballooning tulle, seductive lace and shining sequins made up the über feminine Irina Vitjaz Fall/Winter 2018 collection. The color scheme ranged from neutrals and pastels to brights and metallics, but each piece that came down the runway screamed glamour and savoir fair.
The FW18 collection is ideal for the woman who wears many hats. Sharp blazers for the workday, flouncy floral blouses for dinner with friends, oversized red ruffles for the after party, and intimate silk slips for date night. Irina Vitjaz took classic silhouettes and turned them into modern couture.
Wide-collared A-line gowns were something straight out of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’ closet, slimming slip dresses were worthy of a Breakfast at Tiffany’s appearance, extraordinary ball gowns were fit for Grace Kelly and exaggerated tulle skirts had Carrie Bradshaw written all over them.
Because most of the colors in the collection remained soft and neutral in shades of white, silver and black, the few pops of color were welcome surprises. A pink floor-length slip dress was draped with a red sequin cardigan, elevating the hot pink-and-red trend; a matching pantsuit drew attention with its luxe red velvet material; a blue velvet vest was paired with a sheer tulle skirt, creating the ultimate poise with minimal fabric; a lustrous teal blazer gave the perfect example of combining work and play; and a lilac mermaid-style gown embellished in sequins was like something out of a fairytale.
The models’ hair was styled into sleek buns; their eyes were dusted with shimmering metallic eyeshadow and painted with bold eyeliner into a cateye shape; their lips and nails were left neutral; and a soft glow reflected from their faces—all perfectly mirroring the sophistication of the collection.
