As Winter quarter is quickly coming to an end, some of us may feel the need to find a jolt of inspiration. No worries, that’s what Instagram is for. Here is a list of new artists and fashion influencers that you should check out.
Most Likely to Be on the Cover of Vogue
Instagram: @coco_pinkprincess
Why you’ll like them: This 7-year-old girl from Harajuku, Tokyo has been crowned queen of the underground fashion scene. Since her parents own a vintage shop named Funktique, it isn’t hard to see where Coco gets her inspiration. Her unique sense of mixing bold color and print is both simple and complex. Her feed is straightforward, usually showcasing her outfit of choice that day on set at a new location. We’ll watch closely to see where she aims to conquer next.
Most Likely to Show up Late with Starbucks
Instagram: @parkerkithill
Why you’ll like them:
From his early days at Vine to guest starring on the hit show “Broad City”, Parker Kit Hill is one of a kind. Since he moved to NYC to attend “The Manhattan’s Joffery School of Ballet”, he has become a rising model and influencer.
He has been offered modeling opportunities with companies such as ØBLANC, Opening Ceremony, and Yeezy and he has starred in Paper Magazine and, of course, played Rupaul’s son in “Broad City”. If you’re looking for NYC street style looks and culture, Parker has the best first-person perspective of the lay of the land.
Most Likely to Take Over the World
Instagram: @barbienox
Why you’ll like them: The 20-year-old model has received tremendous support for her refusal to use Photoshop on any of her images, reinforcing her embracement of her naturally curvy body. From there she’s gained her own Vice show, “How to Behave,” and worked with brands such as Adidas, MCM, and American Eagle Outfitters’ lingerie and swimwear line, Aerie. Her feed consists of glam shots set in her living room with her Sphynx cat Mortimer.
Most Likely to Star in a Wes Anderson Movie
Instagram: @pyperbleu
Why you’ll like them: Being around fellow artists is an exhilarating experience. Even better is seeing one of your own thrive online. I found Annabella through her YouTube channel “Cat Creature” and was instantly drawn in by its aesthetic. The same goes for her Instagram. Usually sticking to a color palette for 4 to 5 photos, she then transitions to another color. If you are looking for clean, simple, straight out of Tumblr inspiration, check her out.
Most Likely to Become a Viral Meme
Instagram: @best_coast
Why you’ll like them: Admit it, you’ve thought of dropping everything and starting a band. How hard could it be? For now, I live vicariously through Bethany Cosentino, lead singer of the band “Best Coast.” Showing both the high and low points of being in a band, she is honest and vocal when it comes to mental health. In general, Cosentino doesn’t use her platform to only share photos of her tour or her cat, Snacks. She remains vocal about the music industry and politics. She’s spoken out about sexual assault, getting involved with your government and your right to vote and thrown a benefit for Planned Parenthood with Lizz Phair.
