Everyone has a pair of signature gold hoops. If you don’t, you really should. Or maybe you have a signature stud, cuff, necklace, ring or bracelet. Let’s be honest, gold is expensive, but jewelry brand Mejuri is here to change the game.
They’re a neighborhood brand, while still reaching the world. Their first manufacturers are located just a few blocks from their downtown Toronto office. While the second is located in Seoul, South Korea, specializing in sterling silver and gemstones.
By cutting out the middleman and directly selling to the consumer, Mejuri avoids traditional jewelry markups. The Bold Hoops, a pair of 12mm solid gold hoops, are traditionally estimated to cost $356 but are sold at Mejuri for $150.
Moreover, it’s not just solid gold, they also specialize in gold vermeil and sterling silver. Gold vermeil is not gold plated, but rather, a thick layer of at least 10k gold and 1.5 microns for long-lasting color, layered above sterling silver. The boyfriend hoops, a medium size pair in gold vermeil, sells for $69 compared to $116 retail.
There’s no reason to sacrifice price for style. Mejuri is the epitome of minimal, everyday jewelry with a twist. It means your gold hoop, but offered in a flat, or dome shape, and interlocked duos and trios. It’s studs in various stones and circles. It’s the everyday necklace, or necklaces, that never leave your collar. It’s a personalized piece with a zodiac sign, an engraving or a stone. It’s a ring, a stack of rings or, as of October 2018, engagement rings.
Mejuri releases several mini collections a month called Editions. Typically four Editions are curated per month, so there is always something to look forward to. Like many modern companies, Mejuri is not just building a brand but creating a community of people. They often collaborate with influencers like Claire Marshall with her edgy Bound collection. They also host customer experience events like piercing parties in their brick and mortar showroom.
Their philosophy is not having to choose between high-quality pieces and accessible prices. Instead, it is a place to find the perfect piece to capture those Instagram light leaks. Give yourself a daily dose of luxury. It’s just what the doctor ordered.
