Valentine’s Day is typically a holiday reserved for those lucky enough to have that special someone to share it with. From candy hearts to love letters, these novelties are rarely enjoyed for one’s own pleasure. This year, we are reshaping this narrative. Instead of waiting by the mailbox for a letter that will never come, we are taking the pen back and writing one for ourselves. Rather than lamenting our single status or longing for external validation, we are embracing our own worth and agency. We’re indulging in the decadence of chocolate and the allure of roses not as tokens of affection from others, but as symbols of our own self-love and appreciation. This Valentine’s Day, love comes in many forms, including the love we have for ourselves.
